A mother and her two-year-old son were killed as the Metro pillar collapsed in Bangalore

A woman and her two-year-old son died in Bengaluru, Karnataka, after a huge pillar from an under-construction metro fell on their two-wheeler, injuring the woman’s husband and daughter. The pillar was about 40 feet long and made of metal rods.

The shocking incident happened on Tuesday morning at Nagavara’s Outer Ring Road near HBR Layout. According to officials, the couple, and their twin children—a daughter and a son—were riding their bike through the stretch when the iron pillar collided towards them.

The following people have been identified as victims: Tejasvani and her son Vihan were seriously injured in the accident. Passers-by rushed them to a nearby hospital, where they died during treatment. Lohith, Tejasvani’s husband, and their daughter are being treated at the hospital. According to the police, Lohith was driving the bike and Tejasvini was the pillion rider, and both were also wearing helmets.

“A Metro pillar collapsed and hit a bike on which four people were traveling. Tejasvini and her son Vihan were seriously injured and immediately shifted to the Altius hospital. “Unfortunately, they died there,” said Dr. Bheemashankar S Guled, Bengaluru East Deputy Commissioner of Police. The work has been suspended along the outer ring road for two days.

The Congress party has raised accusations of “40 percent commission” once more, alleging that corruption has persisted across government departments. The party also demanded the resignation of BJP Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. As the state assembly election approaches, the two parties’ verbal attacks have intensified significantly.

Such horrific incidents must be investigated, and those responsible must be held accountable for their negligence. It has caused people to question the city’s infrastructure and construction quality. Because large firms handle public constructions such as metro pillars, the issue of proper monitoring while handling construction contracts arises.
