Every day, women around the world experience less opportunity than men in education and employment, and less political representation. While many countries recognize the need for gender equality and women’s empowerment, women in India have been facing several issues in day to day life. A United Nations report found that globally, there is an overall gender wage gap of 24 per cent, women are 26 per cent less likely to be employed than men, 75 per cent of women’s employment is unregulated or informal to some extent, and women remain economically disadvantaged. Well designed policies can improve the efficiency and equity of the overall budget process because they actively seek to address inequality. The Heera Group is widely known for addressing the issue related to women and girl children, it has formulated dozens of schemes to empower women socially as well as politically.
In 1998 Dr Nowhera Shaik laid the foundation of Heera Group to empower women and MashaAllah since then the organisation has been working on its cause. In the last two decades, the organisation has educated thousands of poor and downtrodden students, especially girls. Heera Group is probably the only organisation in the world which is for women. Since childhood, she had a dream to make women self-reliant and independent and for that, she laid the foundation of Heera Group which not only talks about women empowerment but totally devoted itself to the same.
